Neurocourses with Dr Paul Johns

Short courses in brain anatomy in the UK that are suitable for undergraduates and postgraduates in the neurosciences, medicine and psychology.

I got contacted by Dr Paul Johns from Neurocourses who thought his site might be of interest to PsychSplash readers. Dr Johns is a specialist registrar in neuropathology at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery in London. His website advertises brain anatomy courses that Dr John runs for undergraduate/ postgraduate students in medicine and biomedical sciences, neuroscience and psychology. The current course being offered is a 3-day programme that emphasizes functional anatomy and opportunities to dissect real brains. While Dr Johns has an obvious fascination for the topic, he feels it is important that more people interested in psychology and cognition familiarise themselves with brain anatomy. The site is a basic introduction to the course(s) offered including course information, feedback from happy customers and contact details.

Interestingly, I contacted Dr Johns and asked him whether he had considered getting a variant of his course online (i’d love to see some live dissections with functional commentary!). There might be a wait though. Dr Johns loves his face-to-face teaching and finds people get much more out of the live experience. If you are london-based, try it out!! I’d be interested to hear from anyone who has completed the course.
